As a lesbian raised by lesbians, my childhood has been a political playground for the accusation that queer parents raise queer children. Through this work, I explore a campy queer childhood in the form of a teddy bear picnic.
Because of the unnecessary politicisation of queer childhoods, the audience is held at a distance from the work. They are asked to view the work from the floor and instructed not to participate by a sign on the wall.
This work was exhibited in the 2024 UNSW BFA Open Studios night.
