This project works with the concept of lineage and the imprint of history on future generations. The work was inspired by my experience as a lesbian raised by lesbians and my research into queer history. The work is constructed with symbols of queerness proliferating and creating new faces abstracted from their origins. I wanted this work to be a celebration of the past and the hope of the future however I did not want to ignore the hardship the community has and continues to face which is why some of the faces are constructed with stains, to demonstrate beauty in spite of the aspects of history we may want to remove or hide.
